(That You’ll Never See in a Visit Summary)
You’ve probably read our visit summaries: “Bella had a great walk & went #1 & #2. Ate all of her dinner. Got lots of belly rubs.” Along with our thorough visit reports.
They’re accurate, honest, & often include a few cute pics or videos. But they’re also just the tip of the iceberg.
Because what we don’t include in those few lines? All the little things we do — automatically, instinctively, quietly — to keep your pets safe, happy, & stress-free. The stuff that doesn’t get mentioned, not because it isn’t important… but because it’s just part of who we are & how we show up.
Let’s pull back the curtain on the work that doesn’t make the visit report — but makes all the difference.
We’re Reading Your Pet — Constantly
Before we even say hello, we’re already assessing:
How’s their energy today? Are they pacing? Lethargic? Bouncier than usual?
Do they look bloated or stiff? Any signs of discomfort?
Is their breathing normal? Is that cough just seasonal allergies or something more?
We read your pets like a book — not because we’re magic, but because we’re trained to notice subtle shifts in behavior, movement, & mood. Sometimes we don’t even realize how many micro-decisions we’re making. We just do it.
We make the adjustments to keep the visit calm, comfortable, & centered on your pet’s needs.
We’re Quietly Checking Your Home
Nope, we’re not snooping. But we are tuned in.
Without you asking, we’re often:
Closing gates that blew open during a storm
Tying up blinds cords so they cannot get wrapped about fur babies' necks or limbs
Turning off dimmer light switches as they can be dangerous
Mopping up spilled water bowls before someone slips
Noticing that your AC is off & your home is way too hot for your pets
Making sure your pets don't have access to toxic plants
Disposing of the pieces of pet's toys they've chewed off
We also look for signs of leaks, power outages, or anything that might compromise your pet’s safety while you're away.
You won’t see “secured back gate & reset thermostat” in your visit report — but those little acts? They’re happening all the time.
We’re Monitoring Your Pet’s Health Holistically
If we notice something once — like loose stool, a missed meal, or a little limp — we take note. If we notice it twice, we’re tracking a pattern, notifying their pawrent to keep them in the loop. If it happens a third time, we’re discussing the game plan with their pawrents.
We don’t panic at the first sign of weirdness. But we do observe & compare across visits — especially with:
Medication responses
Appetite or water intake changes
Bathroom patterns
New behaviors like hiding, shaking, & barking more than usual
We’re quietly logging all of that behind the scenes. That’s the kind of detail that doesn’t make a “Fluffy had a great visit!” pupdate — but might save you from a major health scare.
We Anticipate Problems Before They Happen
That little “what-if” voice in our heads? It’s working overtime.
We’re constantly:
Double-checking leash clips before opening a door
Switching to a harness or adjusting a collar when we notice it's loose
Grabbing an extra towel if it looks like rain
Adjusting the visit plan if a neighbor’s reactive dog is outside
Using the quieter gate because we know the usual latch sometimes sticks
You’ll rarely hear about the micro-decisions we made to keep your pet calm & safe on a walk. But they’re always happening — especially with shy, elderly, or reactive animals. If the
We Let Your Pet Set the Pace (Even If That Means Doing “Less”)
Sometimes what your pet needs during a visit isn’t a walk or playtime — it’s a slow, quiet check-in. A chance to decompress. A cuddle in the corner with a soft voice & calm vibes.
We’ve had visits where the sitter simply laid on the floor with a grieving pet who just lost their sibling.
Or skipped the walk because the pup was trembling from thunder & chose to soothe them indoors instead.
That might not “look” productive on paper — but it’s everything to your pet.
We’re Protecting Your Privacy & Your Pet’s Dignity
There’s a reason we don’t post every cute or quirky thing your pet does. Some moments are just for them. For you. For the relationship we’re honored to be part of.
We don’t share sensitive health details online. We don’t share photos with any identifiable details. Of your homes, pets collars, etc. We don't share your pets full names only their first initials.
We protect your pet’s privacy (& yours) with the same professionalism we’d want for our own families.
We Love Them Like They’re Ours — Without Overstepping
Here’s the truth: we love with your pets just like our own fur babies.
But we also respect boundaries. We honor your routines. We ask before we change anything. We celebrate their quirks without trying to “fix” them. And we respect their limits — even if that means sitting 6 feet away & tossing a treat their way for three days in a row before they decide we’re new best friends.
We earn trust the long way. The right way.
What You Don’t See Is What Makes It Work
We don’t do this job for the glory. (Let’s be real — we’ve cleaned enough litter boxes in our lifetime to earn a medal by now.)
We do it because we know how much your pet means to you.
We do it because we understand the responsibility of being in your home. And we do it because we know that behind every “she ate & went potty” pupdate is a hundred small choices made with intention, compassion, & care.
That’s the Fairy Dogmothers difference.
It’s not just a visit.
I’s a relationship — built on trust, belly rubs, poop bags… & a whole lot of invisible work you’ll probably never see.
And we wouldn’t have it any other way. 🐾
